Ayurveda therapies and treatments

Choice of ayurveda therapies are always based on the dosha composition of the individual and the type of health issue involved. Depending on the situation, a specific type of therapy or a combination of therapies are selected by your practitioner.

Women’s health issues during Kapha years: Includes Irregular periods, dysmenorrhea, PMS, Acne, overweight, Irritable bowel syndrome and allergy.

Women’s health issues during pitha years: Includes pcos, thyroid problems, uterine fibroid, infertility, anovulation, endometriosis, menorrhagia, liver problems, psoriasis, vitiligo, neck and back problems and digestive complaints.

Women’s health issues during vata years: Includes premenopausal and menopausal issues, weight gaining, fibromyalgia, arthritis, osteoporosis, diabetes and insomnia.

CPS

This particular type ayurvedic therapy is a forced sudation by heated boluses filled with a coarse powder of various grains and pulses or herbs, either cooked or uncooked for the purpose. Selection of herbal ingredients are based on individual’s dosha combination and the health issue involved. Boluses are generally prepared by putting the herbs on pieces of linen or cloth and then tying them up into small bundles that can easily be held in the palm. This treatment is an external application to a specific body part.

PPS for joint stiffness and muscular cramps

PPS or Pathra potala sweda is a variation of sudation process performed with the help of heated bolus bags filled with the cuttings of fresh leaves of certain medicinal plants duly prepared for the purpose. Massage with this bolus is particularly beneficial for pain in the lumbar region, stiffness of the joints, muscular cramps, loss of sense of touch, paralysis of the limbs and similar rheumatic complaints.

SPS for chronic Rheumatism and joint pain

SPS or Shastika pinda sweda is a special form of this treatment popular in Kerala Ayurveda. This type of pinda sweda is beneficial for issues with the nervous system, chronic rheumatism, pain in the joints and emaciation of the limbs. This treatment is helpful in making body strong and sturdy with well developed muscles.

Shirodhara

Shirodhara dhara is beneficial for premature grey hair, fatigue, head ache, lack of vitality and for the diseases of the eyes, nose, throat and ears. This dhara also alleviates the derangement of the three doshas and improves all sensory organs.

Sneha Vasthi

Snehavasthi removes toxins from the colon. Very effective disorders like constipation, paralysis, gas and bloating, back ache, rheumatism and neurological conditions. Oil enema with very small amount of therapeutic oil or therapeutic ghee selecting according to the disease condition.

Kashaya Vasthi

Kashaya vasthi can be done after the sneha vasthi. It is the main therapy for vata conditions. They are beneficial for chronic conditions of arthritis, sciatica and other back problems, female diseases, constipation, osteoporosis.

Pichu Therapy for Spondylosis

Cotton pad dipped in warm oil applied the affected area. This can be done on cervical, lumbar, knee, and in vertex of head. Pichu is helpful in cervical spondylosis and lumbar spondylosis, knee joint pain and stiffness, sports injury, insomnia, head ache, stress and anxiety.
